This project was designed as part of a competition to design a collection for Old Navy based on the theme 'Road Trip' that was meant to capture 'the spirit of Americana'. I looked at the small towns and suburbs you might drive through on a summer road trip. Green lawns and blue skies, the kitsch of pink plastic flamingoes and the retro appeal of station wagons and drive-ins.

The collection was designed for children. For boys I looked at the repeating shapes of the suburbs: checks made by windows and little rows of suburban homes that naturally create stripes and checks.
